Friday protests grip Middle East

As has become the norm over the past month and a half, Friday has become a day of major protests throughout the Middle East and North African region.  After Friday prayers, protesters have come out in mass in Yemen, Egypt, Tunisia, Jordan, Iraq, and Bahrain.  Al-Jazeera provides an update on the protests in each of these countries.  In Yemen, President Ali Abdullah Saleh has recognized the peoples right to protest in peace and has ordered the military and security services to protect the protesters.  The military is out in force keep pro and anti government protesters separated in Sanaa.  However, the story is quite different in Aden where a secessionist movement is centered.  There, Houthi rebels are participating in the protest and the security services have moved to break up the protests.  The government of Yemen seems to recognize a difference between people protesting for reform and what they perceive as people protesting for the break up of Yemen.
