Global Opinion: Bibi the Bullshitter

An article featured in Haaretz reports that famous journalist Jeffrey Goldberg claims that former U.S. Secretary of Defense Robert Gates called Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin “Bibi” Netanyahu “an ungrateful ally to the U.S. and a danger to Israel” in a closed meeting with other U.S. officials. You can read Mr. Goldberg’s blog here.

The article goes on to note the growing trend of open frustration with the Israeli PM. For example, both current Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak (pictured with his Prime Minister) and former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair have publicly referred to Netanyahu as a “bullshitter.”

This latest brouhaha arrives amid the another stall in the peace process and as the United Nations prepares for a General Assembly vote on Palestinian statehood. The vote is expected this month.
