Gadhafi is Dead

However you decide to transliterate his surname, the former Brotherly Leader and Guide of the Revolution of Libya is dead.

Beyond the circumstances of his death–which the world will pore over, investigate, and scrutinize for weeks to come–we must consider what this means for the remaining dictators of the region and the world.

We can imagine that Assad and Saleh are no doubt feeling a bit more vulnerable. But will we see an increase in security forces loyal to their respective regimes?–or an empowered opposition?

Of course, the Libyan people will continue to struggle as they seek to overcome decades of opposition and find common ground upon which to rebuild their broken nation.
